Stiftung Museum Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf

The extensive collections at the Museum Kunstpalast include the Gemäldegalerie which focuses on European painting from the 15th to the beginning of the 20th centuries, based on the legendary gallery established by Johann Wilhelm II, Elector Palatine. The Düsseldorf School of Painting forms a special focal point. The Prints Collection, with works from the 15th–21st centuries, comprises some 80,000 sheets of drawings and graphic works. The holdings in the sculpture and applied arts section cover the Middle Ages and the Gothic and Baroque periods in particular. The history of glass from Antiquity to contemporary Studio Glass objects can be seen in the glass collection with more than 10,000 exhibits. The modern art section includes paintings, sculpture, objects, large-format photographic works and video art from the 20th-century to the present day.

The Museum Kunstpalast has gained an international reputation thanks to its high-quality exhibitions on Caravaggio, El Greco, Joan Miro, Andy Warhol, Nam June Paik, ZERO and Andreas Gursky, to name but a few.
